Shannon Plangklang
Shannon Plangklang is a Thai-American rising seventh grader who discovered her love for music at the age of five when she began learning piano. She started participating in local recitals and competitions early on, and at age nine, she was introduced to classical music, which deepened her passion for performing. She enjoys sharing music with others and regularly performs at retirement homes with Rêve de Musique.
Her dedication to piano has led her to various festivals and competitions, where she has received numerous recognitions, including Superior ratings at the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals, an Outstanding rating at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs’ All-State Festival, and Gold Medals from the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA). In 2024, she was honored with awards at international competitions, including the American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition and the International Festival of Young Gifted Musicians “Passion of Music.”
In 2025, she won first place at the Elite International Music Competition, earned First Prize at the 2025 International Music Competition Paris “Grand Prize Virtuoso,” and received bronze medals in both the Chopin Class and Junior Performance Class D at the Northern Lights Piano Festival Competition. In 2026, she won second prize at the Special Venue Music Awards International Competition – Stanford University Edition.
Beyond music, Shannon enjoys exploring mathematics, science, astronomy, and history. She is also actively involved in her school community through UIL competitions and student council, where she was elected Vice President at her current middle school.
